For manufacturers in the plastics industry, the SMARTFLOW® Scientific Cooling Class offers the industry’s best, in-depth exploration into the science of cooling in injection molding.
Ideal for designers, mold builders, tooling engineers, and mold technicians, the class focuses on not only the “how” but the “why” behind effective cooling practices.
Expert-Led Learning Experience for Injection Molders
Developed by Mark Brown and Phil Burger in collaboration with industry experts, this 2-day course immerses participants in both theoretical and practical aspects of scientific cooling. The curriculum includes energy principles related to specific polymers, the impact of heat transfer and energy flow on part quality and cycle time, and the relationship between Reynolds number (Re) and turbulent flow.
The course covers the intricacies of different cooling circuits, sizes, and how to adjust these using regulators to achieve optimal cooling. Participants learn to apply formulas for heat transfer calculations and explore energy and water conservation techniques.
The course involves hands-on activities and participants are encouraged to bring their cooling challenges for group discussion. The class also delves into water chemistry’s role in cooling and introduces pump performance curves. With a pass/fail assessment at the end, successful participants earn a Scientific Cooling Certificate, empowering them with skills and knowledge to implement in their manufacturing processes.
